NBA standings, FIFA style!

You know, 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and zip for a loss. In basketball's case, since there are no draws, games that went into overtime are equivalent to 1 point whether that team won or lost. Games that went into multiple periods are treated as one game, the number of OTs doesn't multiply the points.

Would the Lakers snatch the home court advantage throughout the playoffs in FIFA-style standings? Would other teams that were mathematically eliminated have a last-ditch chance to qualify? Let's see!

So as you can see, the Lakers won't catch the Cavs, nor would the Pacers catch up with Pistons (which went to #7), nor would the Suns catch the Jazz, but it did shuffle to places a bit. The Pistons are now #7, the Heat fell to #6, Houston fell to #5, Philadelphia fell to #8, and the Kings are the still the worst team in the league. Hah.

Next time: the much-maligned NHL-style standings, where it gets a lot more complicated. Let's see if it shakes up things a little.
